Tell us about Keyper's Cove
Keyper's Cove was founded in 2010 by Nicole C. Jordan. Nicole started making jewelry in September 2009 and posted her work on deviantART, after gaining so many followers, Nicole founded 'Keyper's Cove' and employed her sister and father to help her. She later brought on other family members to help make jewelry. Each and every piece of jewelry is made by hand with imagination and care. Keyper's Cove was named after Nicole's dog Keepers, a dog who always helped her through the hard times in life. Working full time while still in school, Nicole slowly grey Keyper's Cove until it became known around the world. We have noe shipped keys and other unique jewelry to every continent except Antarctica. Greatly inspired by her love of fantasy and all things magical, Nicole's idea behind the keys was to make something no one had seen before while still keeping the prices affordable.
'Moon Keys'
Where do you get inspiration to create such magical artifacts?
'Taste the Rainbow'
Did you ever expect your creations to become so popular on deviantART?
'Ailuropoda melanoleuca Keys'
(Giant Panda)
How much do you think your talents have improved since you first started making unique jewelry?
Death Note Watch Pendant
Swords of 'The Cherry Tree','The Last Dragon' and 'Divine Embrace'.
If you had all the time and freedom of the world, what you most love to create and why?
That answer would vary for each of us working here. We, in a sense, do have all the time to create what we want pertaining to strictly keys. It would be cool, as some people have suggested in the past, to create full costumes and styles to accompany these keys. Beyond our work with the keys, if we had all the time to create whatever we wanted, it would be everything from writings, to gun smithing, to photography, to traditional arts and animal rescue!
'Small Steam Punk Assault Rifle Necklace' and 'Steam Punk-ish like Pendants'
How long does it roughly take to construct an 'average' key design?
'Demiurge Keys' and 'Swords of the Seasons.'
Any encouragement or tips for all of the Artisan Craft fans out there who aspire to create jewelry similar but uniquely different to your own?
My advice would be - BE ORIGINAL. We did not invent steampunk, we did not come up with the idea of creating key jewelry, but we did create all our own designs. We love to encourage others to branch out and try to make their own stuff, but DO NOT copy others. It makes you look unoriginal and uncreative. Also my other piece of advice would be never close your mind to inspiration. It literally can be found ANYWHERE. (I was inspired by taking apart a rear differential in a truck one time to replace clutch plates)
'Epic Gold and Silver Keys'
Anything else you would like to add?
'Lord of the Rings Key' 'Alice in Wonderland Key'
A special thanks for KeypersCove for the amazing talent they share with us here on deviantART and also for creating so much inspiration within us all!
